Creative Parenting

According to a recent research report by Kyung Hee Kim’s (author of  'Yes there is a Creativity Crisis') there is a disturbing trend among our children: a sharp decline in creativity.

children have become less emotionally expressive, less energetic, less talkative and verbally expressive, less humorous, less imaginative, less unconventional, less lively and passionate, less perceptive, less apt to connect seemingly irrelevant things, less synthesizing, and less likely to see things from a different angle.Kyung Hee Kim

"One of the problems is that too often our educational systems don’t enable students to develop their natural creative powers. Instead, they promote uniformity and standardization" Sir Ken Robinson, Ph.D., Internationally recognized leader in the development of education, creativity and innovation.

As creative skills become scarcer they are also becoming increasingly valuable.

“Creativity may be the most powerful of all the resources to be rich in. With vast numbers of people entering the workforce, huge improvements in productivity, and continued globalisation, the rewards for innovation and creativity will become even greater”.The 2010 Standard Chartered Winning Ingredients report

This is why these days it is becoming increasingly important for us to ensure that our childrens' creative and imaginative skills are given the opportunity to thrive.
